![]() Amazon is billing this as a good device for Zoom or Skype calls. It has a 2 MP front and rear-facing cameras with 720p HD video recording. There is a USB-C port for charging it on your computer or plugging into a wall outlet. If this is not enough, there is an SD card that is capable of an additional 1TB of additional storage. Underneath the hood is a MediaTek Quad-core 2.0 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The USB-C cable is also held together by plastic too, Amazon could have used a piece of durable paper instead. The tablet itself is enclosed in plastic, while the vast majority of the industry has gravitated towards wax paper. When you open the box, there is a piece of recycled cardboard that the tablet is sitting on, along with the quick start guide, and warranty information. It has a big picture of the tablet on the front and some general tech specs on the back. The retail box is bright with orange and back hues. Most companies put the speaker on the back, but this model has it on the side, so if you are using it while laying back down, your sound will not get muffled.Īmazon is making a big deal with its environmental packaging. Most of the ports are at the top, such as power, volume, USB-C and headphone jack. The front of the tablet is always black, but the sides and backplate are in whatever color you choose. There are two colors of the tablet, black and denim. Unlike an e-reader that has a front-lit display, this is a tablet with backlight, so the light is going to be shining into your eyes. The Fedition features a 7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 with 160 PPI. This is not a flagship tablet, it is affordable and designed to be good enough, but not amazing. However, the resolution and PPI is rather low, so you will not be able to view any content in HD. If you are a Prime Member, you will get added value, such as being able to access Prime Video, Prime Music and Prime Photos. It allows users to buy Kindle Books, Audible Audiobooks and download apps from the App Store. The Amazon Ftablet is a very low cost gateway to the Amazon ecosystem.

That would increase the cpu/storage ratio of the network whe keeping the n*(n-1) intrasection communication overhead small. Seems like it would be easier/simpler to just limit vault sizes to a fixed value so that more sections were needed. Or have I misunderstood the process suggestedĪnother option is to scale Elder sizes as the number of sections grows. This is especially important for promotion reducing the time to promote by about 1/5 or better. Knowing that then the job of moving chunks when adult is promoted/restarted/relocated is shared across many adults saving a lot of real world time. If I understand the storage method then an adult may have other adults (A, B, C) holding some of the chunks and say adults (B,C,D) holding some others and adults (E,F,G) holding others since the 3 closest adults to a chunk will vary depending on the XOR address of the chunk. So while this maybe a simple way of using the elder to buffer a transfer, it may prove impracticable when Node storage sizes get over 500GBīetter for the elders to table the chunks in the Adult being promoted/restarted/relocated and allocate evenly the job of moving the chunks off to the adults holding the chunks. It there is the 2TB adult with 500GB through any one elder then its like 30 hours to receive the data and 30 hours to send it (obviously overlapping) But if more adults are hold various chunks in that adult then the time will be less.īut the worse is the effect on the Elder’s upload link by storing in its cache chunks being moved about. If all chunks were only on 3 other Adults then 111 hours comes down to 25-30 hours. Now if that same Adult also had other Adults that hold its chunks helping out then you’d be looking at lot less. A 2 TB storage node will take a minimum of 110 hours if flat out at 5 MB/s So the Adult being promoted/restarted/relocated will only have to do a portion of its chunks and the other Adults doing their portions.Īnother advantage is the uplink speed of the Adult being promoted/restarted/relocated will not be such a limiting factor on how fast an Adult can be promoted/restarted/relocatedĪt say 40Mbit/Sec upload link, the link nominally can sustain 3 to 5 MBytes/Sec uploads. And additionally the elders rather than storing and forwarding the chunks could instruct the other Adults with the chunks to do the same. Maybe to speed things up rather than going via the elders and only using one Adult you could have a method where the adult sends the chunks directly to the other Adults. This sound elegant but is double handling the chunks. The elders in turn store each chunk to four adults. When an adult restarts or relocates it sends its chunks to the three closest elders to the chunk name and they store as much as possible in their cache. This mean lossless audio (mostly DTS-HD and FLAC) and very high bitstream video. Most of my movie collections is in the form of Bluray remuxes. Besides the HTPC, I'm thinking at most 1 or 2 clients connected at the same time. I'm thinking of getting a wired connection to the HTPC but I'm not sure yet.
